Dr. Fugate's primary professional efforts focus on employee reactions to organizational change. This work includes downsizing, restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, and plant closings. He often assists managers in assessing the impact of change events on employees and devising and implementing action plans to effectively manage the change process. Frequently, this work is a subset of larger organizational assessments designed to assess the human resource health of organizations, and often includes the assessment of organizational culture and guiding cultural change. Dr. Fugate also does leadership development and training. In addition to his consulting services, Dr. Fugate is an Assistant Professor of Management and Organizations, Southern Methodist University, Cox School of Business and his work has been published in numerous professional journals including the Academy of Management, Personnel Psychology and the Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies.
